Well, it’s not an Oscar, but tonight for anyone planning a green update to their home this is just as exciting. Energy Star recently updated their website to offer info on incentives in the stimulus package for homeowners to add energy efficient improvements.

The biggest changes for most of you are:
* Cap for improvements to things like windows, insulation, furnace, etc increases from $500 to $1500
* Also the amount you can claim grows from 10% to 30%
* The work can be extended into 2010

I won’t pretend to be an expert. This stuff is new and some of it is just rolling out. Definitely ask a tax expert if you have questions!

I will post info on the Energy Star appliance rebates that were promised when the info is available.
