Not YET Green

On Thursday, the MLS for Northern Illinois (known as MRED) introduced some new fields that will now make it possible to search for homes with green features.  I was part of the initial planning sessions and I’m quite pleased this tool is finally available to buyers and sellers in our market.  A green MLS is critically important to help sellers sell green homes and to help buyers find them.  But even more importantly, it will help appraisers to start tracking the value that green features bring in our market.  I’ll be tracking the value too.  Check back this summer to see what is happening in terms of market time and value for green homes in and near Elmhurst and throughout the Chicago area.

The fields put an important emphasis on disclosure.  The information gives the buyer an extra layer of information about a home, and sets them in the direction to validate the seller’s details and then draw a conclusion about how the green features meet their needs.  Let me know how I can help you further market your green home or the green features in a home, or how I can help you find one!
